Oxandrolone – Anavar

This drug’s clinical use is scarce. Historically, it treated anemia, weight loss in HIV patients, and was even trialed for osteoporosis. Due to abuse concerns, Searle ceased production in 1989. Currently manufactured by Savient Pharmaceuticals under the name Oxandrin, some physicians prescribe it for moribund patients to aid recovery post-trauma, burns, or severe infections, occasionally in conjunction with corticosteroids for alleviating bone pain in cancer patients.
Dosage
For anemia and weight gain support, the typical adult dose ranges from 2.5 to 20 mg/day, divided into 2-4 doses. Individual response varies, with some observing results at lower doses while others may require 30-150 mg/day. Treatment duration is generally between 3-6 weeks, with a gradual increase if no improvement is noted within the first 4 weeks. Oxandrin is available as tablets in 2.5 mg or 10 mg options.
As with all anabolic steroids, Oxandrin can manifest side effects. At low dosages, effects are often mild, such as abdominal discomfort or nausea. However, higher doses may present:
